What others have to say…

“I brought home my first ever cat almost four years ago from Pam and Mt. Hood Maine Coons. That was the best decision I ever made. M'aiq had such a bold personality. I could take him anywhere. He loved going places with me, and got lots of attention at the local farmer's market. He was amazing with strangers, tolerant of being handled, and had wonderful public manners.

Pam takes great pride in breeding happy, healthy, and spoiled kittens. She shows so much love and devotion to every cat in her care, and makes sure every  kitten she adopts out is free from genetic health conditions.  M'aiq suddenly fell ill when he was two and a half. When he first got sick, Pam made herself available to answer any and all questions I had, and at the end she mourned with me and helped memorialize him. His affliction was very unfortunate, but not something either Pam or I could have predicted. I miss him dearly.

I'm now looking forward to adopting another baby from Mt. Hood Maine Coons and hope this one is just as much a lovebug and a troublemaker as M'aiq.”

“I found Mt. Hood Maine Coons after losing a rescue I adored. He was a long-haired rescue that the shelter said they suspected was part Maine Coon. This didn't mean anything to us when we adopted him. But once he was part of the family, and sometime during his time with us we learned about what that meant; that many of his most endearing traits and habits were closely associated with his possible  part-Maine Coon background.

After he passed away my husband and I knew we wanted a Maine Coon.

The term, "Breeder" has always held some negative connotation for me. I reached out to no less than 20 breeders with several criteria: How did I feel about their ethics and the way they ran their cattery? Did they feel human and sympathetic to my recent loss? Or did it feel like they were just trying to sell me something?

This was on top of more practical considerations like: did the website feel legitimate? Were there any other red flags about the things they said? What were prices like?

With my stringent criteria fulfilled, I ended up getting a pair of kittens from Mt. Hood Maine Coons and do not regret the transaction. They're well-socialized, confident, and affectionate. Pam raises them in a loving environment with her devoted attention.  After we'd picked our kittens and before they were old enough to join our home, Pam made us feel included in their raising. Frequent pictures, updates, stories. After we had the kittens we maintained contact: Pam is always a knowledgeable resource for any concern or question we have, even 3 years later.

Pam carefully selects potential homes for kittens and raises them as though they mean the world to her because I believe they do. It shows in their health and temperaments just how much love they receive from the start of their lives to when they find their new homes.”
